"A GARAGE BUILT BUGGY
Buggy Photo Album Over 100 pictures!! updated 9/6/04
10/30/06 This winter will be a target goal for finishing the buggy project. With so many projects, I have had very little time and money to complete it.
3/11/06 Slow going but getting there. A couple new pictures added to the photo album.
1/19/06 Continuing to assemble the buggy as time allows. Got a hood built from 1/16 steel with a small cowl scoop, and starting on the rear fenders.
11/04/05 Finally got the frame painted with 24 cans of roll bar paint.
Proceeding to reassemble the beast.
3/25/05 Added Toyota Tacoma headlights, constructing the transmission hump, and stripping the buggy down for paint.
Chassis Design: The inspiration for this buggy came from one of Campbell Enterprises creations. I have tried to duplicate the general design of their frame and cage detail.
I did get the opportunity to take a considerable number of digital pictures of the Campbell buggy at a "Summit Truck Fest" here in Reno NV. These pictures have helped me to build most of my buggy chassis thus far.

This Campbell buggy has a "retro" 2"x3" .120 rectangular tube main frame and they used 1.5" .120 DOM tubing for most of the cage.

What's left??? ENGINE AND FUEL INJECTION:
Thanks for visiting..... Trailhed.com  The engine is a GM "Universal" 350 ci. crate engine. The fuel injection system was put together from many different parts from different folks around the internet. I used a complete electrical harness and chip from Affordable Fuel Injection. The Throttle body and aluminum intake manifold is from a 1992 Camaro. The ECM is 1 of 2 that I bought from some guys on EBay. All the ECM's are GM# 1227747 for a 350 (5.7) engine. The sensors came from Howell. The thing that tied this all together was a 1991 GM service manual purchased from books4cars.com.
THIS PAGE WAS UPDATED 10/30/2006 SUSPENSION: The buggy will have leaf spring front suspension (stock Wagoneer front springs and shackle reverse) but the rear will be coils (2.5" TJ front coils) and 4 link (1.75"x.375" wall DOM), not coil over like the Campbell vehicle. Rod-ends are 3/4x5/8 ends from Avalanche Engineering with misalignment washers for increased rod-end angularity.
STEERING: The steering is custom full hydraulic with a single end 2x8 cylinder and a Danfoss hydrostatic steering unit. The hydraulic pump is a KRC cast-iron pump. All hose and fittings are Aeroquip high pressure hydraulic hose.
Hit Counter AXLES: The front D60 is a Chevy unit that I converted from dual wheel hubs to single wheel hubs with hubs from Six States Distributors
Materials list The front locker is an ARB from Summit Racing. Both front and rear gear ratio's are 4.56-1.
The rear 14 bolt is equipped with a Detroit locker.
